Offense Struggles in Redzone in Season Opener

Friday Sept. 5th, the D-2 Wildcats played the D-1 Ranked Harvard Cardinals at Harvard in their first game of the season. The teams over all both teams were very evenly matched. However after Harvard jumped out on top early in the game the Wildcats could never quite get things rolling, failing to score in the redzone four times during the game. Highlights of the night were senior quarterback, Steve Johnson Jr., throwing for 115 yards to 3 different receivers, and freshman defensive back, Josh Schmoldt, picking off a Harvard pass late in the game. Leading tackler in the game was sophomore, Tyler Boman.
“We have a young team this year; however in the second half of the game they finally started to get their feet under them holding the Cardinals to only 6 points in the second half.” - Coach Steve Johnson
