Clay Center Wildcats and Giltner Hornets run the score
On Friday the 12th of September the Wildcats traveled to Giltner for what turned out to be more like a track meet than a football game. On the opening drive for Giltner there were 3 tackles made behind the line of scrimmage (2 by Steve Johnson and 1 by Zach Tessman) forcing the Hornets to punt the ball away to the Cats. With good starting position the Cats. It didn’t take the Cats long to score. With only 3 plays under their belts, sophomore, Tyler Boman Busted loose for his first, and the teams first, scamper to paydirt. After Tyler opened the flood gates both teams seemed to able to score at will, especially the Wildcats. At halftime the score 36-32 with the Wildcats scoring in the last minute on a deep pass from, Senior Quarterback, Steve Johnson to, Junior Tight End, Andrew Paulsen to take the lead before the break. After the break the cats never lost the lead, even though they gave up 2 touchdowns on special teams. The Wildcats put up 24 more points in the second half while only allowing 16 points for Giltner. The final score ended up being 60-48 in favor of the Wildcats.
